Editing Photos of Arun
I like how a few of these turned out but they are way too yellow and I prefer the look of the studio lighting from the other shoot. Also, the lighting is really bad again.

Some Initial Photos
I got my camera out with my macro 50mm lens and took some photos of my dog Bella, playing inside, I got the settings on the camera correct, a high ISO, low f stop to compensate for the fairly quick shutter speed. I think they are too dark though due to the horrible lighting. My next step will be to take photos of the dog in the studio and experiment with studio lighting.

Artist Inspiration... Nick Ridley
A lot of Nick ridley's photographs of dogs are outside and of them running, this is especially effective with Springer Spaniels. I will take inspiration from this and capture my Springer Spaniel, along with other dogs, running in the field and woodland. I will also try to create a shallow depth of field like Nick. In addition, I will photograph dogs indoors using natural and artificial light to create different atmospheres.

Self Directed Project - Man's Best Friend
Each dog has its
own personality and some people believe that we can read a dogs emotions and
that they can read ours, creating a strong bond like a best friend, hence
people calling dogs a man’s best friend. For this reason, I have given my
project the title of Man’s Best Friend.
I will work towards
producing a series of photographs of dogs and capturing the individual dog’s
personality through their facial expressions and activities. All dogs have
their own quirks and habits and routines so I will try to capture this in my
photography.
Similar to in the
exploratory stage, I will use the studio and studio lighting, the dark room to
develop black and white film, and I will use Adobe Photoshop to edit my photos.
I will extend my knowledge and creative ability by using and experimenting with
different ways of taking photos, such as black and white film, taking a photo
of a dog in motion, experimenting with shutter speeds, and taking photos of a
dog closeup.
